Meeting Notice - J4 meeting 218 (15-26 March 1999)
Micro Focus is proud to host the March J4 meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is a two-week meeting, with Sunday March 21 off. Each day the meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. and it normally ends at 6:00 p.m.
Room reservations must be made by Friday February 12. Call either 800-221-2301 or 702-798-1020 and mention that you are with the "J4 committee meeting" to secure the $89 rate. The reservations department is open 8:00 - 5:00, Monday - Saturday. Requests for reservations after the cutoff date will be confirmed on a space available basis at the best rate available. The rooms have a fully equipped kitchenette, a microwave, and coffee maker. Non-smoking rooms are available. A credit card will be required both to secure a reservation and upon check-in. Reservations must be cancelled 48 hours in advance to avoid a penalty. There may be a penalty for early departure. There are only a couple of rooms available the Saturday night before the meeting (13 March). Let me know if you have a problem with your reservation or if there is any other assistance that you would like.
The weather in March should be quite pleasant. A light jacket may be needed at times.
You may want a car, since the city is spread out and you will probably tire of the restaurants within walking distance before the 2 weeks are over. On the other hand, taxis are plentiful if you prefer that mode of transportation.
The hotel is located 1/2 block from the "Strip", 5 minues from the airport, 10 minutes from downtown, and next to the MGM Grand Hotel.
A map and driving directions are included below for those who rent a car. The hotel provides complimentary airport transportation between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Call them when you have collected your baggage.
From the airport: Exit the airport via Swenson Avenue to Harmon Ave. Turn left on Harmon and go west approximately one mile. Cross Koval Lane and turn left at the first traffic light (Audrie Lane) into the MGM themepark. Then turn right into The Carriage House parking lot.
